How to use the Image Compressor

1. Pick your goal. Tap a target size such as โ‰ค 20 KB, โ‰ค 50 KB or โ‰ค 100 KB, or a photo size such as Passport photo 35ร—45 mm, US passport / visa 2ร—2 in or Signature 140ร—60 px. Need a different limit? Use Custom KB or Custom pixels, or open Fine-tune settings for format, quality, resizing and background colour.

2. Add your photos. Drag and drop, tap to choose from your gallery, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl/โŒ˜+V. iPhone HEIC photos are converted automatically. You can add up to 30 images at once.

3. Check and download. Each image shows its new size, exact byte count and pixel dimensions, plus a green Meets badge when it satisfies every requirement. Drag the before/after slider to compare quality. For passport, square and signature sizes, use Adjust crop to frame the face or signature. Download each file, or all of them as a ZIP.

To hit a file-size limit, the tool tries many JPG/WebP quality levels and picks the highest quality that fits. If that isn't enough, it gently reduces the pixel dimensions. Sizes use 1 KB = 1024 bytes, the way upload forms count them. Everything runs in your browser: your photos are never uploaded, and location (GPS) and camera details are stripped from the saved files.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an image to 20KB (or 50KB, 100KB)?

Tap โ€œโ‰ค 20 KBโ€ (or 50 KB / 100 KB), then add your photo. The tool searches for the highest JPG quality that stays under the limit, and if needed reduces the pixel size slightly, until the file fits. A green โ€œMeets โ‰ค 20 KBโ€ badge and the exact byte count confirm it before you download. For other limits use โ€œCustom KBโ€.

How do I resize a signature to 140ร—60 pixels?

Take a clear photo or scan of your signature on white paper, choose the โ€œSignature 140ร—60 pxโ€ preset and add the image. Use โ€œAdjust cropโ€ to frame the signature tightly, then download the JPG. If your form also has a KB limit (for example 10โ€“20 KB), enter it under Fine-tune settings โ†’ Max file size. Always check the exact size your form asks for, because different exams and portals use different signature sizes.

Is it safe? Are my photos uploaded?

Your photos never leave your device. All compression, resizing, cropping and HEIC conversion happens inside your browser using your phone or computerโ€™s own processor โ€” nothing is sent to a server. Re-encoding also removes hidden metadata such as GPS location, camera model and date.

Why is my JPG still too big?

Very large or very detailed photos (leaves, grass, text, noise from low light) need more bytes. If a fixed pixel size is required, such as 413ร—531 for a passport photo, the tool can only lower the quality, so a very small limit like 5 KB may be impossible โ€” it will tell you and give you the closest result. Allowing a slightly bigger KB limit, a smaller pixel size, or cropping out busy background usually fixes it. Also make sure the output format is JPG or WebP, not PNG.

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

Tap โ€œConvert onlyโ€, choose JPG, then add your iPhone HEIC/HEIF photos. They are converted in your browser at maximum quality and saved as standard JPG files that work on Windows, Android and every upload form. You can also pick a size preset at the same time, e.g. HEIC to JPG under 100 KB.

What size is a passport photo in pixels?

Most countries, including India, the UK and Schengen countries, use 35ร—45 mm photos. At 300 dpi that is 413ร—531 pixels, which is what the โ€œPassport photoโ€ preset creates. US passport and visa photos are 2ร—2 inches, which is 600ร—600 pixels; the US online visa form (DS-160) accepts square JPGs from 600ร—600 to 1200ร—1200 pixels up to 240 KB. Always check the current official rules for your application.

Does 1 KB mean 1000 or 1024 bytes?

This tool uses 1 KB = 1024 bytes, which is how Windows and most upload forms measure size, so a โ€œโ‰ค 50 KBโ€ result is at most 51,200 bytes. The exact byte count is shown under every result so you can double-check against the formโ€™s limit.

Which format should I choose: JPG, PNG or WebP?

Choose JPG for photos and anything going into a government or exam form โ€” it is accepted everywhere and compresses best. PNG is lossless and good for screenshots, logos and transparent images, but it is much larger and cannot be squeezed by lowering quality. WebP is smaller than JPG at the same quality and great for websites, but some forms donโ€™t accept it.
